The Environmental Commission consists of seven members and two alternates appointed by the Mayor, one of whom shall be a member of the Planning Board.  The Commission meets at 7:30 the third Monday of each month. Check the Borough home page for meeting links. 

The Environmental Commission:

  • Conducts research into the use and possible use of open land areas of the borough.
  • Prepares maps, charts, plans, pamphlets for the Borough Council and residents.
  • Maintains an index of all open space, publicly or privately owned, including open marshlands, swamp and other wetlands in order to obtain information on the proper use of such areas and may recommend to the Planning Board of the borough plans and programs for inclusion in a municipal Master Plan and the development and use of such areas.
  • Reviews preliminary site plan applications and other Planning Board applications, as requested by the Board, and submits its recommendations to the Planning Board.
  • Works in consultation with the Open Space Committee on open space issues.
